Privacy policy
Antivirus Zap scans your Mac without sending your files anywhere. This page explains the little information the app and this website do handle.
The short version. Scans run entirely on your Mac. We do not upload your files or file fingerprints. You do not need an account. Analytics can be switched off in the app. We never see your payment details.
Who we are
Antivirus Zap is made by Voros Innovation & Business Services Pty Ltd (ACN 145 977 724), trading as Voros Innovation, in Australia. This policy covers the Antivirus Zap app for Mac (Mac App Store and direct-download Pro editions) and this website. It is a summary of the Antivirus Zap parts of our full Voros Innovation privacy policy, which applies to all our apps and explains your rights in detail.
Scanning and threat updates
- Scans happen on your Mac. Files are checked locally against a threat database stored on your Mac. We do not upload your files or file fingerprints.
- Threat signatures are downloaded from our servers and from the open-source ClamAV project, so the app stays up to date.
- Browser extension checks. To identify unwanted Chrome extensions, the app looks up the IDs of installed Chrome extensions on the Chrome Web Store, so Google receives those extension IDs. Lists of known unwanted extensions are downloaded from Google Firebase using an anonymous connection.
- Software updates. The direct-download Pro edition checks our servers for new versions. The Mac App Store edition is updated by Apple.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config to see which features are used, fix crashes and adjust settings without a full update. These services collect app interactions, an identifier for your app installation, device information such as model, macOS version, language and approximate location derived from your IP address, and crash reports. Antivirus Zap includes a setting that turns analytics off. We keep analytics data for no more than 14 months and crash reports for 90 days.
Purchases
Apple processes Mac App Store payments. We never receive your name, card or payment details; Apple only tells us that a purchase was made. If you buy a licence for the direct-download Pro edition, payment and licensing are handled by Paddle, which collects the details needed to process your order under its own privacy policy.
Support emails
If you email us, we receive your email address, name, message and anything you attach, such as screenshots of scan results. We use this only to help you and to improve Antivirus Zap, and keep it for up to 3 years after our last contact.
What we do not do
- We do not show ads in Antivirus Zap and do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not require an account or ask for your name or email address in the app.
- We do not sell your personal information.
This website
antiviruszap.com does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Links to the Mac App Store take you to Apple's website, where Apple's privacy policy applies. Direct downloads are served from Amazon Web Services.
Your rights and contact
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you by emailing info@vorosinnovation.com. We respond within 30 days and do not charge for requests. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, your local data protection authority. Full details are in our complete privacy policy.
Changes
We will update this page when Antivirus Zap or the law changes, with a new effective date at the top.
